Children's Ministry Volunteer Application

Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in serving the kids here at Eastridge! Your impact in these kids' and families' lives, no matter how small it may seem, is surely invaluable.

Please fill out the required questions, then print the attached Background Check Waiver and return a signed copy to the Children's Ministry Check-In Counter. If you do not have access to a printer, you can pick up a copy directly at the Check-In Counter.

Your application will then be reviewed and background check processed. When we receive the results, you will be contacted regarding scheduling.

Available Positions

NOTE: Young children, particularly 0-5, require consistency and familiarity in order to thrive in their environments. Because of this, you will notice required minimum time commitments for all Lead and Teacher positions. We want to offer the best experience possible for the kids of Eastridge and their families.

Floor Manager

This position is the lead coordinator for each service and manages the flow of staff and family check-in. This leader is required to arrive 30 min. prior to the beginning of their service time (8:45am or 10:30am), to ensure that the space is clean and functioning appropriately. If decisions regarding staffing or questions about the day should arise, the Floor Manager will field these requests as needed. This position reports directly to the Early Childhood Director.

New Family Coordinator

The New Family Coordinator will be on staff behind the check-in counter to welcome new visitors to Eastridge. They will guide guests through the new family paperwork and direct them to the appropriate class for their child(ren). This position will also act as a floater in the event extra staffing is needed.

Nursery

LEAD: If you love babies, this is the spot for you! Infants 0-18mo are welcome here, which means they will need constant care and attention. Diapers may need to be changed while you're on duty, and food/bottles will only be given at the request and provision of the parents. The Nursery Lead is requested to be on a twice a month schedule at minimum.

ASSISTANT: The assistant carries out the same duties as the lead, but engagement is flexible for those whose schedules are more fluid.

Toddlers

LEAD: This class is for kiddos 18mo-3 years, so there is a large range of ability here! Though the time will consist mostly of free play, there will also be opportunities for story time, song/dance, coloring, etc. Snack time will be provided by Eastridge (unless otherwise specified), and if there is a need for a diaper change, parents will be paged. The Toddler Lead is requested to be on a twice a month schedule at minimum.

ASSISTANT: The assistant carries out the same duties as the lead, but engagement is flexible for those whose schedules are more fluid.

Preschool

TEACHER: This class will lay the foundation for these kiddos to God and His love in a church setting. The curriculum will be chosen by the Early Childhood Director and supplies will be prepared in advance, with input from the Preschool Teacher as needed. There will be time for free play, music, snack, and activities in conjunction with a Bible lesson. Consistency is important for this age range, so a commitment of at least twice a month is requested for this position.

ASSISTANT: The Preschool Assistant will support the teacher as needed and help guide the direction of the class. No teaching experience is necessary, but a desire to share God's love and kindness with these impressionable youngsters is.

K/1st Grade

TEACHER: As kiddos move into elementary school, it's so important that they continue to build on their knowledge of Bible stories that began in preschool. In K/1st, we focus on God's love, how important each and every child is to Him, and how He is always with them. Lessons for this class are chosen by the Elementary Director and supplies will be provided in each classroom. Elementary students start out in the main worship service for the first 10-15 minutes, then head back to the Kid's Wing to spend the rest of service in their breakout sessions. A typical class includes a Bible story, a deeper Bible connection, a craft and/or a game, and time in prayer. A weekly commitment is preferred for an Elementary Teacher, but a minimum of twice a month is necessary for the spiritual growth and development of elementary kids.

ASSISTANT: Elementary assistants support the main teacher by helping with lesson/craft materials and keeping the kiddos on task and engaged. They may be asked to talk through lesson discussion questions with a smaller group of kids. This position is really all about being present with the kids and developing relationships!

2nd/3rd Grade

TEACHER: In 2nd/3rd grade, we focus on God's love, how important each and every child is to Him, and how He is always with them. We encourage the kids to look at the stories in their own Bibles and talk about how God's message relates to our lives today. 4th/5th Grade

TEACHER: By 4th and 5th grade, the kids are pretty familiar with the traditional Bible stories. Now, the focus shifts to navigating God's calling on their life and carrying it out into the real world. We want these kiddos to learn how to uplift each other during their walk with Jesus, how to pray for one other, and how to share Christ's love with their friends! Like the other classes, a lesson plan chosen by the Elementary Director will be provided, with the added opportunity to go deeper into the Bible and to spend time sharing with each other. Relationships and consistency are key!
